I'm bringing this thread back to life. Does anyone know how to get ahold of the guy who was selling the caliper brackets on ebay? I really need a set of the brackets and I don't want to buy them from downeyoffroad if I don't have to because they are $140.

heres a set that uses tacoma calipers instead of gm, apparently you have to mod the axle or turn down the rotor or something, but its a start...

heres the most affordable place that has the caliper mounts. however, these are set up to use tacoma calipers.... a much easier swap im sure.

http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/cat ... s-c-9.html

anyone else done the swap?? anyone have any info on what they used for calipers? (2wd or 4wd) and what rotors are needed??

ok Im gonna start this post with a list of the some of the parts you need. Please keep this post to a min for Im gonna post alot of pics on here and dont want a 9 page pile of nothingness......Also Im doing this now before I agree to a contract with L.C. Engineering that way I cant be held responsible.
First you need to get cailipers and brakes from a 79 monte carlo...no emergency brake.
Next 84-86 (I think) Mustang SVO rotors.
Then get a proptioning valve from a early model toyota pickup, its the one that goes under the master cylinder, this is what helps the brakes work correctly. This was on the lower grade toyota trucks, the ones with the towing packages came with the one under the bed.
Now Ill dig out some of my older pics so I cant post on what you have to notch and cut off your axle.
Also look on ebay there is a guy selling the disc brake conversion for a 4x4 toyota.....order just the bracket from him or anywhere you can find one......hench someone out there finds a spot to order these post it up,Ill stay ontop of it too....
There is you a parts list of things to start getting together.

I'm doing the front brake up grade ,posted on Toyota Mini's ,uses a Wilwood 12.9 rotor, drilled & slotted),(stock is 9.25),Wilwood hat ,& Toyota 4-piston caliper( will use a Willwood caliper later),the bracket is being made by a memeber @ that site($80 shipped)
In regards to rear disk, the Mustang SVO rotor( found drilled /slotted on brakeplanet .com), the main bracket from Skybrake.com($70) for a GM caliper, will make a 2nd bracket that will bolt to the main one & use a Willwood,41mm single piston caliper that also is lever action for a e-brake!
Locar as a e-brake cable!

On my 88 2wd, I used Ford Mustang SVO rotors,as these fit right on the axle hub,no drilling of anything, same bolt pattern. I got drilled /slotted rotors from brakeplanet.com good prices. The rotor size is 11.32" O.D.& .95" thick. Use longer wheel studs!
Used Caddy calipers has I waned to keep the E-brake ( if state goes to inspections, will have to have), this is a single piston caliper. The off set for the brackets is differant then if you use G.M. rotors!! Made my own brackets!

Also changed the booster to a duel diaphragm & the master to a 1" unit,& will need a adjustable porporationing valve.

If you get the porptioning valve on the 83 and 84 that goes under the master cylinder and use the 96 landcruiser master cylinder with abs you wont need that wildwood porptiong valve.
