Thanks for the comments guys! I'm a big fan of the tube notches to. I need to take a pic comparing the size of the old to the new, it's about 4" shorter.

Just doing a bunch of small tedious things right now, like removing all the factory bed brackets, and steering component mounts lol I just want to get it rolling!

Finally an update. I've just been doing small things, starting to get antsy about making it a rolling chassis.

I wanted to make some shear load gussets but I needed to bend them to match the curvature of the frame. So I made this contraption to bend the 1/4 plate

Image

Here is a view of me putting it in action, it worked pretty well.

Image

I finally got to adding the wrap around part of the front bag brackets, it's not really for strength just for looks. I still need to do the bottom, I just bent and tacked it in a circle as I went a long to get the shape I wanted.

Image

Here is an over all shot, I removed the rest of the factory brackets that I won't be using like the steering part brackets, bed support brackets, and other misc items.

Image

I wanted to add a shear load gusset to the Z but I thought it would look cleaner if it was bigger so this is what I came up with, I know I know it's big
Image

Thanks for all the comments guys it helps me stay motivated! All these small things are taking me forever I just want to drive it already

Oh yeah one more pic

I replaced the factory cross member with all the holes with a solid piece. I pie cut the top to make the edge flush with the top of the factory frame rail you can see on the top. I still need to flip the frame over to do the bottom.

Lookin real good Rob. My next build will be done like this. I will find just a frame to start with and then find me a donor body and all. Seems so much more simple to work with a frame you can flip around. Good luck with the rest of the build!
whatever comes up comes out, we dont put our hands over our mouth!

Thanks man, I have some to post but I'll probably just wait until the front is done. I've been developing Accounting software recently so I try not to be on the computer when I don't have to be

Thanks man, this is the first time I've worked on a truck with a frame table and I couldn't imagine not doing it this way again. It's so nice not having to work off the ground or other misc. parts getting in the way.

Thanks man, hopefully when it warms back up I'll start working on it again but I'm so broke right now I can't afford to touch it

Can't wait till blood drag it's in Lawrenceville this time!

Finally getting motivated on this thing again, and starting to warm up.

Proof we do get snow in GA! It's snowed a lot this year, this pic is from when we got 5 inches last month in one of the many east coast snow storms this year.

Image

I haven't gotten that much done. I'm getting ready to get back to work on the upper control arms the shop just really needed a good cleaning, and I added a shelf to my frame table. :lol
