Finally an Update!!!!!

I know it's not a lot but it felt like a lot of work to me

Got the bag plates positioned and welded up -- before metal finish I got a lot of spatter on this one

Image

smoothed welds and getting the gusset templates made

Image

Next it was time to do some work on the bottom of the frame but screw welding and grinding upside down I just flipped it over

Image

Did some clean up here and there from old work
Before
Image

After old factory brackets and old work removed, getting ready to put in a new notch this week
Image

Pretty much finished up the Z in the front just some metal finishing here and there. Here is what I started with.

Before

Image

And now
Image

I needed to add bag clearance so instead of cutting out for the bag I cut the hump of the engine cross member to match the angle of the bottom piece, thought it would look cleaner.

Image

Pretty much where I got to today before my grinder died....moment of silence please Milwaukee you will be missed
Image

I'll be using this the replace the factory steering, my buddy had some extra racks from his Ranger build thanks Jevon!

this is how i will do every build from here on out. the bullshit that goes into stock flooring a truck is just not worth it! i love my truck, but i will definitely change things as I can as a few things are not to my standards.

Thanks Andrew

Thanks Obey, maybe I could have a YotaScene barbeque and get all the GA boys together for when I need to put the cab back on!

Bump your truck came out good what don't you like about it?

SMCToy Yeah I should have it there Donny, I hope for it to be a full rolling chassis by then but I'm always faster at doing work in my mind then real life

Pinch was cut so short it doesn't lay, when in reality, it should have layed rocker in the first place. thats fine though, nothing a nice solid sheet metal floor cant take care of later down the road. not happy at all with how the exhaust HAS to be ran, but again, it can be done with more money than I should spend on exhaust. Just little shit I shouldn't have to do once I got the truck back. oh well...live and learn huh.

oh and i really need a different way to route wires and all that nonsense. hardlines will solve that though. I really want stainless everything. brake lines, fuel lines, air lines, and possibly run some to hide all my compressor wiring and valve wiring to the back. I want it to be sooo fucking clean, and this part is of course my job and not the builders.

oh and rob, what shows are you hoping to make in the 2010 season a little farther west of you? stc, pandamonium, allstar, slammin? i'd love to see this thing in person when it's done.

How much do you have left before it lays? I'm making sure the frame will lay flat on the ground but I don't really care about laying flat rocker I'll probably put some kind of plate on the frame to protect the paint on the underside of the body.

Wow thanks Bump I hope to have it at Scrapin The Coast next year! Besides that I'll definitely be at Slammin & Jammin, and All Star, are you going to All Start this year?

Well getting close to being able to move on to the suspension.

Got the frame flipped back over so I can install the new notches!

Image

Old notch I'm replacing, this notch is 4" taller than the new one so I should be able to keep the bed floor lower.
Image

Made new notches made out of 2x4 11 gauge
Image

No turning back now
Image

I hope to have the new notches installed tomorrow, and maybe the new notch cross member, anyone have any ideas? I want to do something simple and clean not to crazy.

New Notches are in!
Image

New Cross member is in also just have to finish passenger side.

Starting to look a lot better now, next I'll need to replace the inner frame rail with flat plate to match the notch since the notch isn't as wide.

2x4 notches look so much better than those 8 piece weld together crap, but I think most of us learned this the hard way hahahaha. Looks good, keep truckin'
