how to change fenders. problems with antenna

how do you get the antenna off of the fender and on to the new one. please help.

first unscrew the antenna.. The long rod.. Then take a pair of plires or vice grips and unscrew the chrome/silver ring.. Now pull the black plastic piece.. and lift the fender off...

got it off but broke it. anger managment classes do no good lol. going to shave it. thanks alot for the replies

LOL see thats why I still have my antenna,I attended anger managment classes.Plus I used to be a mechanic so I got that specail little tool for removing the antenna.After ripping my first one off I learned......he he he he

Actually, I grabbed the nut on mine and started turning it, and the threads were so stripped the antenne fell down through the fender.
