i have a 4wd auto trans. and i want to go to 2wd can i just undo the transfercase and use the auto trans

Like most of the Toyota transmissions you can if you install a the rear tailshaft housing. Your transmission won't have a rear housing since it mates up to the transfer case.

They are different. I've rebuilt both in my transmissions class.
If you can find it cheaper, I can fix it.

The 4WD is a lot bigger, longer really. You could try it, and might just end up with a shorter driveshaft. But I kind of doubt it would work. But I could be wrong.
If you can find it cheaper, I can fix it.
