My tail shaft seal is leaking and getting worse. Its a celica 5 speed, not sure of the year or difference between a truck tranny, but i was wondering if its an easy job or not?

yeah its really easy to fix. an hour tops. just pull the driveline out, remove the round cover thing that goes around the U joint you'll see the seal, just pry it out and tap the new one in then put it all back together. make sure you check the gear oil level you dont want it to be low, you'll have bigger problems then a leaky seal.

Yeah, my fluid level is the reason i need to fix the seal....Adding a quart or so every few hundered miles. Im not driving a lot lately, so it sits and drips. Hate driving away from a parking spot and leaving stains....Might as well drive a chevy:)

The hardest part is getting the factory seal out. Sometimes its a real bitch. Then use a piece of tubing or something (I used aluminum stock) to drive it in straight.
If you can find it cheaper, I can fix it.

you can use a rubber mallet too, they work pretty good when it comes to tapping in seals and stuff..it wont nick up the surrounding metal. but like seth said, make sure it goes in straight.

Sounds pretty much how i thought. The next question would be....Which seal to get? Was told the tranny is from a celica, and im not sure if the truck seal is different.
