LT-1 350 Chevy is the shortest V-8 that I know of. Just have to rearrange the factory accessories to make it fit under a stock hood with a 2.5" bodydrop easy. Could mess with oil pan to get even lower. I have one out of a Z-28 actually that I am no longer going to use. You can get them out of mid 90's Impalas & Roadmasters with cast heads, 93-96 Z-28, Trans-Am, and Corvette with aluminum heads for more horsepower and less weight.

That's an awesome project. I've always wanted to V8 a Toy but narrow the rear with Wides on the rear and narrows up front. Killer!

A 302 IS A LIL EASIER DUE TO NOT HAVING TO MODIFY THE FIREWALL AS MUCH SINCE THE DIST ON THE 302 IS IN THE FRONT AND IT ALSO HAS A FRONT SUMP OIL PAN AS FAR A A SMALL BLOCK CHEVY 305'350'400'327 ALL THE SAME SIZE BUT HAS A REAR SUMP PAN WHICH MAY GET IN THE WAY OF STEERING AND THE BIG ASS REAR DIST PLUS YOU'LL HAVE HEADER ISSUES I USED S10 SHORTY HEADERS BUT MINE IS A TACO W/ A RACK AND PINION

im building a 4.5" sfbd/traditional On 18s with a 350. The 350 wasnt too bad, as far as fabrication.. the enine mounts lined up almost perfect to the frame mounts. And all i had to do was cut up an old 4 link to make my frame mounts.

with the 4.5" bodydrop theres absolutely no way its going to fit under the hood. If you look at the valve covers in reltaion to my tires, they are almost as tall as my tires.. Now right now, my tires are 225/40/18s.. And they are about 1" out of the fenders. so the valve covers will probly be damn close to touching the hood. And the carb and intake manifold will stick out the hood. With as big a bodydrop as i have, i doubt you could even get a fuel injection system with a low enough profile to clear the hood.
