ok i have a motor i have for parts and when i took the valve cover off to use it ...well i took it off the parts motor and saw that the rocker arms have been hiting the vavle cover not much but anuff to see that he has barrly be nicking the cover what causes this ...cause there is a peice inside the cover that can come out is this part the reason or something wrong with the motor

another question what is the stock intake made off cast alum..can it be welded...and also whats is the best stuff to clean and polish the stock alum vavle cover

Just use paint stripper to remove the paint, it will clean up the intake as well. You can have both polished out ,or power coated .

the best thing to polish them with is a da and sand paper. progress to finner grit, then start with the polishing. should take you a couple days to do properly.

the one im cleaning has no paint it alum as you can see in the pic...the blue one the old own painted and im not using it...i asked about the alum not removing paint...how to clean it

SAND PAPER AND A DA.

the castings are very rough if you'll inspect closely, you cant just polish it or it'll look like ass.
clean and start your polishing at the same time.

^^yeah just like kdc said, your gonna have to sand all the 'texture' out of it until its smooth. or just get it powder coated. unless you have the drive to really keep up on a polished valve cover.

i sanded mine smooth before i got it coated. comes out nicer.

id rather have it shine like chrome or billet ....i cant cover somehting like that up

and alot more money..when i got one that wont cost nothing to clean...and i have most of it clean ...i dont see what you say its so hard...air tools work wonders
