i have a 93 std cab with a 22re. the whole engine is bone stock. i was wondering what is the easiest way to put an intake or remove the stock air filter and put a better intake without any check engine lights or messing up any sensors.

thanks.

(i was looking for a intake set up like this)
is there any sensors that i have to worry about?

what exactly do i have to do to the stock intake to put a less restrictive intake filter on.

any help willbe appreciated...

You may be able to buy the intake adapter kit from a parts store or you can always get a intake kit off ebay. I pretty much made my intake..all I did was buy the filter adapter kit & used the factory tube, but Im about to have a tube cut to replace that. Here is what Ive got & not too worry, it doesnt affect any sensors.

make sure the air flow meter is hooked up and thats it. the plug you see going into the box behind the filter just goes into the air flow meter and gets its fuel mixture info from there.

ok so i ordered the intake filter w/ the adapter from ebay...

I WAS JUST WONDERING WHAT ARE GOING TO BE THE DIFFERENCES OVER THE STOCK INTAKE FILTER.

WILL I HEAR AN INCREASE IN SOUND TO MY EXHAUST?
WILL I REALLY GAIN A FEW HORSEPOWER?
IMPROVEMENT TO MY LOW END?

you will see a slight increase in horsepower, 1-5, depending on the rest of your set up. i.e. muffler, header, high-flow cat. you'll be able to hear the intake breath cause its not surrounded by the intake box. it will have a LITTLE bit more kick in the ass on take off. and maybe 1-3 more mpg. im about to do the same setup with a magnaflow 2.25" in/ 2 2" outs exhaust.

i have the same set up as SMCToy however i have mine routed stright down from the throttle body because my tires were kicking up to much water and i feared my intake was going to suck it in. I have it resting on the top of my A frame.

I bought mine off of ebay. it works fine for me.Haven't really seen any HP gains but it definately makes the under hood appearance look alot better than the stock one. Not to mention it gave me space to mount my coil and power steering resevoir.

If you run it through the side, draw air from the wheel well, just make baffle that covers the rear half of the filter, preventing water & debris from the filter!
